What is this site?

This is site is like conventional URL shortening sites like bit.ly and tinyurl.com.

This site is available to all TJHSST students but URL shortening requests must be approved by a sysadmin or another administrator before it becomes active. To create a shortened URL go to the Create Page and fill out the form.

When filling out the URL shortening form you will have to provide a description. A request is very unlikely to be approved if it is submitted without a description.

A "slug" is a sequence of alphanumeric characters that can be used to create a specific short URL instead of a randomly generated short URL. You can specify custom slugs but after a slug is used (by ANY user) it cannot be reused.

After submitting a URL shortening request, you will receive an email if your request has been approved or denied

How long are short URLs active for?

Each short URL will be active for 6 months. You will be send an email after 6 months and after your short URL has been deleted. After your URL expires you can resubmit another URL shortening request for the same site.
